Governing Body

As with all schools, Marshfield Primary is made up of representatives from the local authority, parents, teachers and members of the local community. The governors are responsible for the general direction of the school. They take decisions concerning staffing, curriculum and finance and oversee the work of the school.

The Governing Body meet as a group twice in the Autumn and Spring Terms and once in the Summer Term. At each of these meetings the Headteacher's Report on the work of the school forms the key focus for discussion. Sub-Committees meet prior to each full meeting to discuss school effectiveness /standards, additional learning needs, school organisation, future planning, etc; finance, and when necessary, premises.

When a vacancy exists for a parent representative on the Governing Body, all parents and guardians of pupils in the school will be informed and nominations sought. Should the number of nominations exceed the number of vacancies, a ballot will be held.
