Summer Term W/C 18th June 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are all very much looking forward to our packed diary of events over the coming weeks. Our Sports Day is on Thursday, 28th June and our moving up morning is the 6th July.

PFA News

Many thanks for your support for all our PFA events. The Father’s Day shops raised a spectacular £900. On two previous events the PFA were able to secure match funding thanks to Emma and Andrew Maunder, which was an incredible help! The school and PFA would like to extend their thanks for their support. If you have contacts with a bank and are able to help in a similar way, the PFA would love to hear from you.

Money Matters Week

There were incredibly high levels of entrepreneurial skills shown by our pupils last week as part of our special theme week. We also had a great deal of support from members of our community who educated us all in financial matters!

A big thank you to:

Andrew Maunder

Phil Morse

Leanne Griffiths

Nathan Evans

Ben Marrin

Catherine Parsons

Claire Dixon

Andrew Evans

A wonderful array of products were made by the pupils. Thank you all for supporting the sale stands on Friday. Mrs. Dixon is busy calculating the profits made and which class is the winner.

Staffing Update

We have three new teachers joining our team from September. Mr. Peter Davies, Mr. Thomas Aubrey and Mrs. Jessica Davies. We would like to extend a warm welcome to the Marshfield team!

Community News

The Marshfield Village Fete will be held on Saturday 30th June at Marshfield Village Hall and will be opened at 1pm by our very own Headteacher, Mrs. Lewis, and a performance by the Marshfield Pom Dance team. There will be a barbecue, bar, bouncy castle, slide, climbing wall, dog show, races, tug o’war, raffle, over 30 stalls and lots more. Volunteers are needed for 1 hour slots – if you are able to volunteer, please contact Angie on 07971 256279. Thank you.

Congratulations to all the Marshfield pupils who took part in the recent Marshfield Football Presentation day on Sunday 10th June. It was attended by not only Marshfield Football teams but also a number of other local football teams. Thank you, also, to New Directions who kindly donated an inflatable penalty shoot out.

A Marshfield resident has brought to our attention that parents/carers appear to be parking very early (approximately 2pm) outside the school in the afternoon prior to collecting their child at 3.15pm. She advised that this caused her problems trying to get past as the road becomes so narrow when cars are parked. We, therefore, urge you to be mindful when parking and try to limit the time spent parked outside as it does cause an obstruction, particularly when vans/lorries wish to pass.

Office News

A cufflink has been handed in to the office and was found outside the Pandas door. If anyone believes it is theirs, please contact the office.

Sharing Celebrations

Congratulations to Christie W (Yr5 LS) who recently auditioned and has been selected for a part in a TV drama which will be a very exciting project for all involved.

Congratulations, also, to Poppy J (Yr3 JH/DLW) who completed her first sponsored 2.5 mile walk for charity on Saturday and managed to raise over £400 for Parkinson’s UK.

Finally, congratulations to Emily E (Yr6 LD) who has attained 2nd place in her couples ice skating competition, 2nd in her Club competition and came 8th and 9th in her single ice skating competitions. She has just been accepted as one of the top 24 ice skaters in the UK to go to the British Dance ice skating competition in Sheffield on the 10th and 11th July.

Congratulations to Khaya-Celeste M (Yr1 SJL/RF) who smashed out a 4th position win at Elite 2018, Pwllhelli, North Wales, in the Under 8 Starters section, which she has just entered. Her #Fast/Solo section was huge with up to 40 dancers competing on Friday, to try and earn a place in Sunday’s Grand Final which she did with just under 30 dancers to smash out a win in the Grand Final itself. Saturday, also, saw her smash out a top 3 win, taking 3rd place in her #Slow Dance out of roughly 30 dancers, all of whom are from all over the UK.
